“Wait, Can I Sweat After Botox?” and Other Questions We Get Every. Single. Day.

The 5 Most Frequently Asked Questions at the Upkeep Front Desk—Answered with Love (and a little sass).

If our front desk had a dollar for every time we heard, “Can I go to the gym after this?”—we’d be fully booked and on a yacht somewhere. Navigating the world of injectables and treatments can feel like learning a new language, so today we’re giving you the inside scoop on the most common questions we get asked. Whether you’re new to UPKEEP or just need a little refresh, we’re here to debunk the myths, set the record straight, and keep it real.

1. “Can I workout after my appointment?”

We know it’s hard to skip leg day, but if you just got Botox or filler, working out is a no-go for 24 hours. Increased blood flow and sweating can interfere with the product settling correctly—especially if you’re bending, lifting, or getting hot in a sauna or steam room. So go ahead and cancel your Barry’s class. Rest is productive too.

2. “Will I bruise?”

Listen—we wish we could say no, but bruising is always a possibility. Everyone’s skin is different, and things like your hydration level, medications, or even what you ate that day can play a role. If you’re worried, avoid alcohol, fish oil, and blood thinners 24–48 hours before your appointment. We also recommend starting Arnica tablets a couple days before and using Arnica gel post-treatment to help minimize any bruising. Don’t stress—any bruises you get are typically mild and gone within a few days.

3. “Can I get lip filler without looking like a Bratz doll?”

Yes, babe. This is a safe space, and our injectors are trained to prioritize balance and facial harmony. Whether you’re looking for the tiniest plump or you’re feeling bold and want to build volume over time, your results will always be customized. We’re not about overfilling or following TikTok trends blindly—we’re about you. Natural glam, but elevated.

4. “How long does it last?”

Botox and Dysport typically last around 3–4 months, depending on your body’s metabolism and how expressive you are. Filler longevity varies depending on the area: lips usually last 6–9 months, while areas like cheeks or jawline can last 12–18 months. Laser and skin treatments depend on your skin type and goals, but we always create a personalized treatment plan to keep your results looking fresh and lasting longer.

5. “What’s the best thing to start with?”

The holy grail combo for beginners? Preventative Botox, a hydrating or resurfacing skin treatment (like microneedling or a gentle peel), and maybe a half syringe of lip filler for a little oomph. But no pressure—our consults are free and judgment-free. We’ll walk you through your goals and budget, then create a custom plan so you feel confident and excited, not overwhelmed.
